Bro, homie, thank you for doing this. Diving straight into it- I’m going to give you three names, you tell me who would you hook-up with, marry, and who you would kill. All jokingly that is of course. Rihanna, Jay-Z, Ja Rule.

“Ight so I would definitely hook up with Rihanna, I would marry Jay-Z, and kill Ja Rule. That Jay-Z marriage money would hit.”

Ok so a lot of people are seeing the fast growth you’re experiencing right now, but I wanna take it back to the beginning. I want to point this out because it took me forever to actually make the connection, but how did you come up with the name A-Wall?

“Hahaha I was actually drunk and going through name generators and all the names sucked. So I thought about it some more. Eventually, I got it- since my first name is ‘Aaron’ I took the first letter being “A” and then, I took my actual legal last name, which is Paredes, which translates from Spanish to “walls” in English. So, I just linked those two up and haha yeah. ”

Have you always gone by A-Wall since making music?

“So, the answer is no. I actually started making music in 7th grade, which is long before A-Wall was created. I originally went by the name Rosso Bird and was making EDM. Very few people to this day know that.”

Ok now I have to know this, why “Rosso Bird” haha?

“So now we have to talk about my inspiration behind making EDM to answer this question. My original and biggest music inspiration was Deadmau5, so naturally, I had to come up with a DJ name that had an animal in it haha. It couldn’t just be “Bird” so I added “Rosso” in front of it which translates to red in English, my favorite color.”

Ok haha bringing it back closer to the present time. When did the switch from A-Wall to Rosso Bird happen?

“Well, there’s actually a huge gap in-between the name change where I stopped making music. I actually picked music back up in 10th grade and more or less as a joke. I wanted to make a rap song for my friends, but I said it would be as a joke. The reason for that was if I told them it was a joke and I sucked I couldn’t be too hurt by it since it was supposed to be a joke. On the flip side, however, if I was good, I would still get the credit. Long story short I rapped in a similar fashion to Logic. Whether that’s good or bad I guess is for y’all to decide haha.”

How did you record that first rap song under the name A-Wall? I’m assuming you didn’t know how to mix/record back then.

“I actually recorded it all in one-hour haha, which might be the reason the mix sounds rough. I didn’t know how to record or mix so I actually had to do it in a studio. Studio time is expensive, it was like $60.00 for one hour so I walked in and told the engineer I had to have this song done in one hour.”

So, you’ve been making music for a while now, would you say you’re taking it seriously now? In the sense that you’re actively pursuing it as a career.

“See it’s scary admitting that. I would like to say yes even though I’m still in college, taking a class here and there. I also have a part-time job I’m at, I would say yes though, I am pursuing it as a career.”

How do you feel about where you’re at? At what point did you realize this could be a feasible option as a career?

“Definitely when I got playlisted by Spotify for the first time. After that, I had loads of new people catching on to my music and finding me on social media to tell me they heavily fucked with it. Another point was my Helios release party. It sold out which totally blew my mind, I didn’t envision that many people coming out.”

Moving on to something less serious… I know you really love burgers so I have to ask; In-n-Out or Whataburger?

“It’s close man but my Texas people are gonna hate me...In-n-Out. I have to pick In-n-Out on this one.”

Now the final question dood. What do people have to know?

“If you’re pursuing a career in music, don’t worry about where you’re at. If you’re having fun making music, you’re doing ok just where you are.”
