Lil Texaan- A GGT Interview
We got to ask long time Dallas underground music staple Lil Texaan some questions and down below is what he had to say.
Man, you’ve been on the Dallas scene since forever it seems like… When did you release your first piece of music? What pushed you to do it?
Lil Texaan: “hmmm my first song had to be in 2010, I been rapping ah while. I did it because I knew how and I didn’t take it seriously at first but I love it now.”
Who inspired you to begin making music? Is there a style you take after the most?
Lil Texaan: “I’d say 2 chains inspired me. And underground would be the style I’d say.”
Music has a way of impacting people’s lives like no other- including your music. If you were to leave this world tomorrow…What would you want people to remember you and your music as?
Lil Texaan: “I’d want people to just be their selfs regardless of what anyone thinks of them. Too much good souls being ruined over hiding their real life.”
The music scene has lost many people over this past year- Which of those people passing away impacted you the most? If any.
Lil Texaan: “xxx, was a big one because he actually made a impact in the rap game. I cried when he died same as mac Miller. There (They) where (were) legends.”
Switching the topic to something lighter…If you got booked to headline Coachella, and you could only put three things on your rider, what would those three things be?
Lil Texaan: “it’s would be “ya feeeel me” those are 3 things right? Lol”
The music industry goes hand in hand with meeting people and having fun. Who are your closest friends in the music industry?
Lil Texaan: “my closest friends is 500 gwap gang , they family. And a couple of other cats around the dfw”
There’s been a lot homophobia in the hip-hop scene since the formation of the genre it seems. To anybody who is in the hip-hop industry currently struggling with their self-identity and having thoughts of coming out… what would you say?
Lil Texaan: “I would say just be yourself. There are no rules in being a rapper, literally anybody can do it. But if he rap game is homophobic I would switch up on telling everybody what you are. For example I’m a “artist” ya feeel me?”
On a slightly different note- Dinner with Jay-Z or $10 and a signed copy of The Phantom of the Gwapera?
Lil Texaan: “lmaaaaaaooo, dinner with jay z. I see Gwapmizzle ugly ass enough for his signature”
You get one day to do whatever you want. What are you going to do?
Lil Texaan: “shoot a big ass music video with everyone dancing and having fun.”
What piece of music do people have to go and listen to right now?
Lil Texaan: they should go listen to that lil texxan and 500 gwap because we’re steady coming out of the blue with new hits .
