Kaash Paige - Parked Car Convos
Dallas’ favorite local R&B starlet, Kaash Paige, finally released her major-label debut project everywhere today, and it sparkles with the potential for national recognition. Her sound-defining Parked Car Convos brings you about twenty minutes of Kaash’s uniquely relatable spin on classic R&B themes and sounds, and it’s very hard to press pause as the tape rides effortlessly the whole way through. All of a sudden you reach ‘Love Songs - Bonus’ at the end, and it still hits like it’s the first time you heard it.
Kaash opens up the tape with the elusive ‘Heartbreaker’ which is set up with really pretty guitars and background vocals that sharply juxtapose with the wickedly elegant presentation of her confessions to the blatant emotional manipulation of her lovers. The transparency in Kaash’s writing is refreshing, and her very frank attitude over tracks like ‘WMT’ show off a magnetic charisma that is undeniably hers.
The highlight of the tape is definitely ‘64’’ which is a late-night drive anthem with the stickiest hook on the entire project. Kaash’s very comfortable flow on this track makes for a very relaxing and warm listen and is the best example of Kaash’s effortless ability to craft hits with suede-sounding smoothness. ‘Kaash’s Interlude’ is another favorite of mine for how bouncy the entire song sounds like you can uzi-shoulder to the entire song.
‘Break From Dallas’ encapsulates a very familiar feeling that many people who grew up in the DFW Metroplex can relate to: the question of what else is out there? What more can we see or be? Kaash pens a beautiful manifesto for the feeling of being trapped.
Parked Car Convos strongly delivered and will be in rotation all winter, and the Dallas community is excited to hear more from Kaash Paige as she continues to grow and evolve. Make sure to keep her in your ears and watch the path.
