Local Radio: Ariel & The Culture, Kaylan Arnold, CHROMA...
In the latest update of Local Radio, we feature some of the freshest talent from across the nation.
Atlanta’s own Ahmad Anonimis has been bubbling for some time now, and seems to have made a breakthrough with his most recent single, “Inhaled”. Ahmad teams up with Pro Era’s go to producer, Powers Pleasant. While Ahmad’s previous work has been light and uplifting, “Inhaled” takes a journey through the darker side of Ahmad’s emotions.
Dende, Texas’ newest do it all singer, rapper, instrumentalist, and producer has just released his album, A Happy Man. Drawing on influences from Chance the Rapper, Smino, and Steve Lacy, the album’s brightest moment comes on “DrkSkin”.
A collective of four musicians and four media talents all with different styles couldn’t possibly be cohesive, right? Barely Legal smashed any preconceived notions you may have had about collectives with their seamless chemistry and versatility. Their debut project, Barely Legal Tapes, Vol. 1, is reminiscent of all of the best elements of the South Florida SoundCloud era. It’s raw, hard hitting, dynamic, while at the same time refined enough for the average ears. “Money Where Your Mouth Is” is a change of pace from many of the other songs, yet is a clearcut standout.
Speaking of collaborative works, there were several other heavy hitting collabs featured on this update. “WHAT’S THE MOVE” from Okalahoma’s rap collective, O2worldwide, is a smooth track from their newest album, BACK ON TRACK. CHROMA has released their effortlessly silky single, “SLYDE”. Staying in the 214, Ariel & The Culture tapped Pretty Boy Aaron, Bruhnice, and Kalid Abdul for “Push To Start”.
