Jacks Haupt- Exotica
In music news, we have a recent release from Dallas darling’ Jacks Haupt. The rising star brings us “Exotica” a three minute and thirteen second track produced by “beatsinmybackpack.”
The track starts off with a mellow guitar strumming that sounds like it was sampled off of a firme Chicano oldie. The sample is laid on a warm drum break that gives the track an airy atmosphere similar to that of a vinyl record playing. The four bar loop is then played throughout the 160 beats per minute track with a slight sample variation of the strumming being switched every sixteen bars.
Jacks Haupt introduces her sultry voice to the soulful track to create a heavenly union on earth and on record . She teases us with a seductive melody all the way to the initial chorus, where she lets us know through her lyrics that she’s a flawed song character, pero todavía tiene un corazón y el corazón tiene deseos y necesidades (but she still has a heart and the heart has wants and needs). The track gets rid of its warm drums for 8 bars y empieza a cantar en español (and she starts singing in Spanish). The Spanish verse leads to the bridge of the song where the drums come back in and she lays down a strong vocal melody loaded with reverb and a slight delay. The chorus comes back around for the last time but with an added counter melody and the track plays out.
