Julian Garza- Don't Leave
As I was scrolling through my Twitter timeline, I came across a recent song release titled, “Don’t Leave” by Julian Garza, which is produced by Luna Luna band member, Danny Bonilla. The song’s post sent me to Garza’s Spotify and as far as I can tell it is his only release. The song is short in length, a "blink and you'll miss it".
The track starts off sounding like music is coming from your roommate’s room and as you walk closer to their door and turn the knob to open it, you hear the music loud and clear and find out that they’re recording bedroom pop (*gasps* “cover your eyes grandma”). You can’t help but nod your head along to the groovy bass line, slow tempo drums and chords which sound like they pass by you like a shooting star. “Well will you look at that, grandma’s digging it”.
Julian comes in after the intro singing a catchy hook that is easy on the ears. He jumps into his verse, steps left, steps right, kicks, and quickly jumps back out leaving the listener wanting more. The hook comes back in four more times, an additional arpeggio sound is added to the production which gave me the impression of an 8bit arcade soundtrack, and the song fades out only for me to hit replay 3 more times.
