CHROMA speak at UC Irvine
On Friday, CHROMA was invited to speak at the Arte y Cultura Showcase hosted by the Latinx Resource Center at UC Irvine. CHROMA has been gaining steam as one of the innovators in the Latinx indie scene for their blend of American hip-hop with Latin influences. It has been great to see them connect with their roots in the Latinx community, and see the love being reciprocated.
In addition to CHROMA, the event featured other Latinx artists across several other mediums of art. The artist took the time to share their experiences getting into art and how the love of their culture has contributed to their work. CHROMA spoke of meeting each other organically as kids. Kalid Abdul, one of the rappers in CHROMA, spoke of falling in love with American hip-hop in high school and beginning to make music with Bleu Santana and Polito. The group spoke on embracing their roots and mixing Latin influences with their raps.

Bobby Sessions- Gold Rolex (Feat. Benny The Butcher, Freddie Gibbs)
Dallas’s very own MC, Bobby Sessions, looks ready to drop his long anticipated album. With his latest single “Gold Rolex” seemingly the first single to come in the rollout calendar, and if this is a sign of what’s to come, what an album it will be. He brings together top notch lyricist’s Benny The Butcher and Freddie Gibbs to star on the single and the Dallas native not only hangs with them bar for bar but, arguably, outshines them. Bobby Sessions seems ready to write his name not only into Dallas legend, but as a star within the musical landscape as a whole.
Jessi Pereira- Paradise
Dallas has a host of things to do, but this past weekend most had their eyes on Paradise at Tiny Victories. The party of sorts had people tweeting well into the night, borderline Monday morning, about the good times provided by Dallas culture connoisseur Jessi Pereira. The takeaway here is that next time Jessi puts another Paradise event together, it’s probably in your best interest to attend. Especially if you want to connect some dots and have a good time while doing it.
